CURRICULUM

Overall
Our curriculum aims to enable all young people to become:

  • Successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve
  • Confident individuals who are able to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives
  • Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution

The elements of every child matters are an integral element of our curriculum:

  • Be healthy
  • Stay safe
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well being

We also believe in promoting a personalised curriculum wherever possible.

Specialists

We are a Sports College with Art as our second specialism. The aim of the sports specialism is to use High Quality PE and Sport as a vehicle to promote whole school improvement and raise standards across all areas of the curriculum, adding value to our learners learning and achievements.
The outcomes of High Quality PE and sport such as; commitment, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, enjoyment and aspiration underpin our whole curriculum.

Key Stage 3
The Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed to ensure that learners maintain their progress through their transition from Year 6 to the end of Year 8 , to build their confidence through personal development and to equip learners with the skills to make them successful lifelong learners.

Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 the curriculum is based on Learning Routeways, this means that the option arrangements will enable learners to follow one of three learning pathways. Learners and parents will receive individual advice and guidance from Careers advisers and Personal Tutors about which learning pathway is best-suited to the learner’s personal interests, abilities and aspirations. Information will also be offered to learners and parents before they choose, about the possible choices which will be available at the end of Key Stage 4 for further study post-16.

Key Stage 5
At Key Stage 5 our MK South Sixth Form incorporates a wide range of courses at all three levels. Courses may be studied at either Lord Grey, Leon or at a combination of both sites.
