Vacancy for Teacher/Instructor of Drama
Starting: 31st August 2012

Suitable for an experienced or NQT practitioner:

  • To teach within all three key stages
  • Drama is delivered as a BTEC National in our purpose built Theatre – there is much Year 12 and 13 delivery (experience of the syllabus desirable, but not essential)
  • Drama is part of the Performing Arts faculty that produces regular concerts/dramatic experiences.
  • The school holds ArtsMark Gold and has national/community recognition.
  • Key Stage 4 and 5 results are significantly above national averages.

Teacher of English
Start Date: 31st August 2012

Leon School and Sports College is an 11-19 school.  We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented teacher of English from September 2012.  Newly Qualified Teachers are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Have the ability and desire to teach across all key stages – our KS5 delivery is in partnership.
  • Be an outstanding classroom teacher in reality or potential.
  • Be a personal tutor in a vertical tutoring school system and participate in the mentoring programme for tutees.
  • Be fully involved in an extra-curricular programme focused on learner achievement.

The English Department is a very successful Leon team that supports the learners to make “good” aspiring to outstanding progress throughout their time at Leon.  Our aim is to be an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ school at the next inspection.

Acting Leading Teacher KS4/5 – English

Start Date: 31st August 2012 or sooner. 

This is an acting role in the first instance as the post will be reviewed in Autumn 2012 with the potential of the leadership element becoming permanent and with further opportunities to become Head of Faculty (by separate interview).
We are looking for an inspirational teacher to lead our experienced English Department at KS4 and the ‘reborn’ KS5 teaching and further raise standards and levels of achievement.  The successful applicant will have strong subject knowledge and skills derived from a graduate English background.

Key requirements for this position are:
A track record of success in teaching English up to GCSE Level.  Experience of teaching Key Stage 5 would be an advantage.

  • Potential to lead and manage aspects of a successful department;
  • A flexible and enthusiastic attitude; and
  • A commitment to embed a positive culture of learning amongst staff and learners
  • Applicants must be able to motivate colleagues and communicate effectively at all levels, verbally, in writing, and electronically.

Salary – typically: Leon Scale 2.3/1.4 according to experience but by negotiation

Head of MFL (French with some Spanish)
Start August 31st 2012

Are you a teacher of French?
Do you have the drive, passion and experience to take on a Head of Area (Leading Teacher) French role within the Humanities Faculty?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic member of staff to teach/lead Languages – specifically French with some Spanish. If you are an enthusiastic and effective classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students we would like to hear from you.

Modern Languages has a restricted curriculum delivery for 2012/13 but there are significant future expansion opportunities available.  We have an EBAC GCSE cohort starting in 2012.  Because of the restricted MFL delivery there are opportunities to contribute to other areas of the curriculum; this by discussion.

Remuneration by discussion according to full responsibilities and personal experience.
